4/6/2020 Press Conference on COVID-19 Updates
/On April 6th, Governor Baker gave a press conference to provide a COVID-19 update on PPE Supply, Testing Update, New Drive-through Testing Site, and the new MA COVID-19 Relief Fund.
Here is the summary.
PPE Supply Update
100 ventilators received from National Stockpile are going to be sent out to community hospitals and academic medical centers today.
Testing Update
MA has now tested about 76,500 people.
13,837 people have tested positive.
New Drive-through Testing Site
Tomorrow, a new drive-through testing site in Lowell will be opened, in partnership with CVS, that will conduct up to 1,000 tests a day.
MA COVID-19 Relief Fund
This is a state-wide fund that will support many of the local foundations and community assets in order to help those who are going to be disproportionately affected by COVID-19.
About the COVID-19 Relief Fund
The fund was launched with a $1.8 million donation from the One8 Foundation and other philanthropists and will start with more than $13 million available to be distributed.
The fund will work with leaders and organizations in communities, regional non-profit leaders, as well as leaders on the state level in order to understand where the needs are.
