4/6/2020 Press Conference on COVID-19 Updates

On April 6th, Governor Baker gave a press conference to provide a COVID-19 update on PPE Supply, Testing Update, New Drive-through Testing Site, and the new MA COVID-19 Relief Fund.

Here is the summary.

PPE Supply Update

  • 100 ventilators received from National Stockpile are going to be sent out to community hospitals and academic medical centers today.

Testing Update

  • MA has now tested about 76,500 people.

    • 13,837 people have tested positive.

New Drive-through Testing Site

  • Tomorrow, a new drive-through testing site in Lowell will be opened, in partnership with CVS, that will conduct up to 1,000 tests a day.

MA COVID-19 Relief Fund

  • This is a state-wide fund that will support many of the local foundations and community assets in order to help those who are going to be disproportionately affected by COVID-19.

About the COVID-19 Relief Fund

  • The fund was launched with a $1.8 million donation from the One8 Foundation and other philanthropists and will start with more than $13 million available to be distributed.

  • The fund will work with leaders and organizations in communities, regional non-profit leaders, as well as leaders on the state level in order to understand where the needs are.

  • Frontline health care responders, professionals, and other essential workers

  • Households disproportionately impacted by COVID-19
